Ride to the Touchdown Cafe at Wellesbourne Airfield (near Stratford upon Avon). The route will take us on the back roads to Oxford, a short run up the A34 to pick up the road to Woodstock and Chipping Norton. The total miles will be around 80 miles and should be no longer than 2 hours. If the weather is good, I may run an “impromptu” ride into Stratford for a bit of shopping / a lemonade in a local hostelry.

The cafe is always busy as they do a fab breakfast so it will be a bit of a bunfight for seats but on a nice day its great to get outside and watch the air traffic. For interested parties, I will be happy to lead a short walk to a corner of the airfield where volunteers have preserved a Vulcan Bomber. The last time we visited (some 5 years or more ago), we were able to get into the cockpit for a small donation. No guarantees on this extra feature as it relies on a combination of good weather and available volunteers at the Vulcan. Anyone wanting to do the walk down to the Vulcan should pack a Hi-Vis vest as this is a requirement for pedestrians on the airport apron. I will organise a group photo at the Vulcan (with a chapter flag if there is one with us on the day).
