Road Crew and Membership Offer

Two sessions (morning and afternoon) 6 April, 2022 – start and finish at RHD

Plus an online workshop on 28 March starting at 19.00 (2 to 2 ½ hours in length)

Calling all Road Crew, prospective Road Crew and Thames Valley members….

We are pleased to announce that we have been allocated a bespoke, Harley Only, Thames Valley Police BikeSafe Workshop. These Police run workshops are intended to bridge the gap leading to advanced rider training and make you a safer rider.

In my own experience the BikeSafe course set me on the track of IAM training (which is based on the Police Road craft riding system) and I know that several Thames Valley members have gone on to achieve IAM qualification.

You will receive training from motorcycle police riders in how to avoid the most common causes of collisions and, following an observed riding session (1 police rider to 2 observees), receive realistic and practical advice on how to achieve smoother and safer riding (and enjoy your riding more).

HOG RC training has traditionally been our prime source of Road Crew development but we also ask RC’s to complete a BIKESAFE workshop where possible. There are 16 places available in 2 sessions (8 places each) on the morning and afternoon of 6 APRIL, 2022 so we hope to see as many members as possible on these sessions.

The police suggest that anyone who has already attended a BikeSafe in the last 5 years should not book (the Road craft police riding system has not changed and so there is no benefit for you).

To apply for a place you will need to hold a category A1, A2 or A license (held for at least 6 months) AND MAKE SURE YOU BRING IT WITH YOU and of course be road legal (MOT, Insurance and road worthy bike). You will also be required to wear proper, appropriate for weather conditions, motorcycle gear, especially helmet, gloves, boots etc. BikeSafe workshops will be run in all weather conditions!

When on the observed on road sessions you will be responsible at all times for your own actions and safety. Morning sessions with observed rides start at 08.30 from our Dealership, afternoon sessions start at 12.30 (from our Dealership).

The cost of the BikeSafe workshop is normally £65 per person but we have been given a discounted price so you pay only £55 (and you usually receive a few goodies to take away with you).

We hope to see you enjoying this bespoke course on 6 April. Please apply soon. Email your name and bike registration to Gary Watts, Head RC at roadcaptain@thamesvallyhog.org.uk stating your preference for morning or afternoon sessions.
